Kidder County Tornadoes 8-28-2024

It's been a little while since I've done a blog!  With yesterday's tornadoes, I figured it would be a good time to do another one.

I knew I was going to be getting a later start, so I would have to start near I-94.  I kept heading west, and started to see the storms form and saw that a Tornado Watch was issued.

I was able to stop and top off my gas tank in Steele, as I might not have time to stop and get gas later.  It was also quite the treck out west.  I went south and west of Steele and was treated to this tornado warned storm!

From there I got back up on I-94 and went a little east towards Dawson.  Because the tornado was becoming rain wrapped, visibility was going to be an issue.  However, as the tornado got close to Steele, I was just east of it and had visibility of the tornado as it crossed I-94.

Then, once I was able to get visibility into the storm, I was treated to this:

When we talk about rain-wrapped tornadoes, this is what makes it so difficult for people to see.  Even as a more experienced chaser, it was difficult at times to try to get visibility and verify if there is a tornado.

Thanks everyone for tuning into our coverage last night!
